"Good evening UWC Fans, Harry Slacks here hosting this edition of Off The Ropes." This week's guest is a triple crown world champion, and a very talented wrestler in his own right. Ladies and Gentlemen, the AWF World Champion, "The Dirtiest Player in Caw" Jaysin Richardson.
-The spot light turns on over the second couch, which Jaysin is sitting in.-
Thank you for having me on here.
Our pleasure Jaysin. So please, tell us a bit about yourself, what makes The Dirtiest Player in Caw tick.
Well, to start it off, I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I was brought up in a rich family, but we weren't ever the snobby type. My brother, Bret, and I always went to public schools, and for the most part, I'd say we were good kids. And as guessed, the Richardson Family are diehards for pro wrestling.
So that passion is what drove you into the business?
Sure is. The best part was that my dad encouraged us to push for doing what we love. Normally when you think of rich families, you'd think they wouldn't as much as bat an eyelash at their kids. But that wasn't the case with my parents. They both stood behind me and my brother through thick and thin.
What was your first experience in the ring like?
It was mid 2007, and I get accepted into NWL Underground. And the owner, Isaiah Bolyard was quick to accept me as a wrestler and a friend. When he first came to me, he helped me in thinking up my gimmick for my ring character. He knew I came from a wealthy family, so immediately "Richyboy" clicked from the top of his head. Jaysin "Richyboy" Richardson. At first I was alittle iffy about it, because Bret and I were taught never to flaunt our wealth. But Isaiah and his closest friend Rodney Campbell, who goes by Rage, were pretty encouraging. Told me to not let it get to me since it's only a character, plus my mom always told me that I could act anything out thrown in my direction, so that helped alot aswell. So, I got out there to the ring, acting like this hotshot jerk in this big green Buddy Rogers robe, it was alittle uneasy for me to be booed at, but after my match, Isaiah and his group of friends would greet me backstage, saying I did a bang-up job and that they saw me making it big some day.
Not everyone knows all of your achievements, only those on televised caw. Do tell what you've also accomplished in your career.
Well Harry, that same year I debuted, I won the 2007 Best of the Best tournament, which is a huge tradition in NWL Underground, and I won the NWL North American title on three occasions. and then next year was the start of my stardom on televised caw wrestling, I got a call one day from a guy all the way out in England named Fabio. He called saying he liked my richyboy gimmick, and wanted me to join his league, OFW. I heard a bit about OFW, and heard it was on the rise, so I jumped all over the opportunity. They paired me up with Richie Simmons to make the tag team, Top Dollars. Which I thought had a good run, up until the writers kinda recklessly added people into it, trying to make a faction of Top Dollars, but soon after War Games, it disintegrated just like that. During my time with Top Dollars, however, I did manage to persuade Fabio into recruiting some stars I knew back in NWL Underground. Omega Weapon, Genji, Keith Kizairian, Craig McDaniels, ect. But when Top Dollars disbanded, I was beginning to question what was going to happen to me from then on, but Fabio came to me one day asking "How would you like to be a World Champion some day?" Like any other, I respond with "You bet your ass I would!" Little did I know though that it wouldn't be on OFW. Right around the time I was getting the push, OFW merges with RCW becoming HCW. So at first, I was thinking to myself for a while "Damnit! This means I'll have to start all over!" I'm thankful that that wasn't the case. I was already an established star in OFW, so I'd be up there in the ranks with HCW.
Speaking of which, there was a touch of controversy when you were the No. 1 Contender for Wu Tang Man's HCW Championship, when Oshujax cashed in his Feast or Fired winnings at a houseshow, only to loose the title just like that to Keith Cutler. What went through your mind during that?
Oh boy...A lot was going through my head with that, I wondered if I was still even in the title picture, because we all in the locker room believed that the Uprising main event was going to be just me against Wu Tang Man in the Three Stages of Hell match. But for some reason or another, one of the HCW owners, HADuke starting pulling the last minute card, and decides to have Oshujax cash in and win the belt, only to lose it right after. Everyone in the locker room was beginning to question his booking skills then. I think even Keith Cutler, who won the title from Oshujax was questioning this curveball in the storyline. But we ran with it regardless, and as seen, I won my first major title, I was finally a world champion. But then the next day, HCW closed down...
You've been getting a bit of heat for being a world champion when a company folds, some smarks out there tend to call you wrestling's cancer. Your thoughts on that?
Heh....Frankly, it's mainly coincidence that I would win a world title, and then the company closes. It happened when I was in HCW, and again in OFW. Even I was beginning to think I was bad for the business. And then about a year or so later, I get a call from Frank Dubaine, the owner of AWF. He told me he liked my character, and my in-ring ability, and would hate to see me fade out. That lifted me right up, especially when he had me bring in the OFW title to merge with the AWF title, and face Minion for the unified AWF title. And as you can see, I've become a triple crown world champion, and unbeated so far in AWF. And I hope for nothing but the best for the United Wrestling Circuit, it's a great group of leagues.
Thank you very much for your time. Jaysin Richardson everyone.
