*The lights fade in and reveil Mike Talley and Tank Morgan*
Mike Talley: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for tuning into this edition of Off the Ropes. My name is Mike Talley, the voice of the CWO and all it's incarnations. I am here with one half of the Army of Two, Tank Morgan.
Tank Morgan: Thanks for having me. May I correct you for just a moment?
Sure.
You're not talking with the Army of Two. I'm here alone. All by myself. The Army of Two is no more.
Well that news. Please feel free to explain.
It's nothing bad. Nothing serious. Steven and I have just decided to go our seperate ways. Simply put, the constant turmoil with the CWO was just too much for him. He's a guy who likes stability and the CWO has never be a place for stability.
So that's it? The Army of Two is no more? Would you guys have made more money, won countless championships if you guys would have left together?
It quite possible. Sure we could have made more money. Sure we could have went to another company and probably dominated their tag team division, but the Army of Two is a CWO team. The first incarnation of the CWO allowed us to team together and for that reason we can't let the Army of Two go somewhere else and face the possibility of tarnishing our legacy.
Your brother, Steven, had no problem leaving. Why'd you decide to stay?
First of all... don't paint a picture of something that didn't happen. My brother DID have a problem leaving the CWO. It was not an easy decision for him. We sat down and had one of the best conversations we've ever had. Before we ever teamed up, we both had dreams of being the World Heavyweight Champion. With the CWO rebooting, Steven and I came to the conclusion that although we've never won the World Tag Team Championships, we thought the Army of Two has run its course. Steven didn't want to come back, I wanted to stay, so it was a hard decision to make, but we just decided to go our seperate ways. The CWO gave me my first opportunity to wrestle. Through all of its incarnations, they've always wanted me back. Sure I could have made more money elsewhere, I am CWO through and through. As long as there is a CWO... There will be Tank Morgan.
You obviously decided to stay, along with a handful of others, Eric Ericson, Marcus Hayes, West Virginia Pride, but many decided to walk. When the CWO comes back you'll be surrounded by all new faces. What will be going through your head on that first night?
*Shifts in his seat*I will be excited for what the future hold for the CWO. The talent that they are bringing in is amazing. It will be a international affair. Then my mind will shift to all those who decided to go elsewhere. Let me start off by saying that CWO management asked me to try and bring back as many wrestlers as I could. When the majority told me to take the CWO and shove it... I completely lost all respect for them. Specifically... Bart Turk. Bart Turk decided to not just tell me to take the CWO and shove it... He decided to make some personal remarks about my family and career. He went to a different level. I told him that if we are ever in the same building, he needs to stay as far away as humanly possible, because I'll take him out.
So I guess its easy to say all basic respect is out the window?
To say the least. He didn't need to say the things that he said. He could have just said he's going elsewhere and I'm fine with that. Brian Turner showed real class and simply said that he is going to take his time and enjoy spending it with his family. Brian Turner is the best wrestler to ever lace a pair of boots and I have the upmost respect for that man. Turk let his redneck, white trash personality shine and he just better stay away.
What are you most looking forward to when the CWO come back on the air?
The new opportunities. I'm on my own for the first time in my career. I've always been with my brother, and I'll get to try and make a run out of my singles career. The biggest thing is going after the CWO World Heavyweight Championship. My dream has always been to be the World Champ and now I'll have that opportunity.
Is there one thing that you are hoping for the most in regards to the reboot?
I really want the CWO to be successful. I think the first incarnation was the best company in the world, but then management decided it was time to make money and rebranded as the TCAW. They brought in all these "outsiders" like Gregory Black, Victory Musashi, The Great D, over paid for all of them and then the TCAW has to reboot. Then they decide to go back to the CWO, bring back Henry Upton and we made it through what... one episode? If management would just stay out of the way and let the talent decide how things should go, the CWO can be the best wrestling company out there.
As we said before, you are one of only a few that decided to come back for the reboot, and to be honest you are the "elder statesman" of the lockerroom since you've been here the longest. Who does if feel to be looked at as a leader?
You know something Mike... I've never even thought about it. One of the strengths of this new lockerroom is that there isn't one guy trying to be the "leader" so to speak. We all know our roles and what we are here to do, not one person needs to be the "leader". It is a bit weird being the only original CWO member left on the roster, but that's part of the business; people come and people go. You make lasting friendships with some and others you're glad to see they're gone... Bart Turk. *laughs*
Tank, it's been a privilege and thank you for stopping by.
Thanks for having me. I'm excited for the future of the CWO.
Ladies and gentlemen, for Tank Morgan, I'm Mike Talley. Have a great night.
